Azarbaijan Movement for Democracy and Integrity of Iran
The Iran Azerbaijan movement declaration
The 31-year legacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has culminated in a doctrine of terror, immorality and the suppression of free thought. The laws and principles that govern free and democratic societies are contravened and profoundly denied to those under the rule of this repressive regime. The holy war (jihad) that the Islamist regime propagates is declared not only upon the Iranian people but all of humanity.
This repression has led to the depreciation of intelligence, culture and science in a nation with a rich history of these very areas. For nearly three decades, the Iranian people have been forced to live by a 7th century ideology that has inflicted serious injuries to Iranian society in all spheres of day-to-day life – from basic human rights to wider socioeconomic aspects.
The inspiration once commonplace amongst Iranian youth is now lost while millions of heroic Iranian women are enslaved. And the historical unity of all Iranian people is being endangered by venomous religious propaganda and deliberate divide and rule policies.
The Iran Azerbaijan movement will struggle to regain the independence, national sovereignty and unity that has been stifled by this antagonistic regime. We are the carriers of the first human rights declared by the King Cyrus the Great. Thus, we shall wipe out the shameful stains of terrorism and hostility inflicted by the Islamic Regime of Iran.
In this great struggle, we extend our hands to all Iranian people, political parties, organizations and individuals irrespective of beliefs and inclinations, yet all united in the common goal of freedom and democracy for Iran.
The Iran Azerbaijan movement works for the removal of the authoritarian Islamic regime in cooperation with all Iranian nations. The barbaric conduct of the regime has all but wiped out the dignity, integrity and national pride of our country in the eyes of the world.
The Iran Azerbaijan movement firmly believes that the future of the Iranian people should be decided by the free will of Iranian people in free and fair elections, monitored by international observers such as the United Nations. We strive for a democratic secular Iran with unbreakable bounds to human rights where “good thought, good conduct and good behavior” rules.
We are profoundly committed to the international laws and declarations of the United Nations. We believe the future path for democracy and prosperity in the world lies with cooperation, understanding and mutual respect among all nations inside Iran and throughout the world. We call for global unity in the struggle for freedom and democracy.
The Iran Azerbaijan Movement was set up for the fulfillment of these goals and inspirations. We are deeply routed in the tradition of the one-century-old heroic struggle of Azerbaijan’s people for freedom and democracy. We are reaching especially to the people of Iran Azerbaijan and all the nations of Iran as well as international organizations. We appeal to all the democratic countries to contribute to this great struggle in the darkest night of the ancient home land of Iran.
Fellow citizen, our enslaved country needs you now, tomorrow is too late

The Last Three Thousand Years of Iranian History witness that Azarbaijan has been in the Forefront of any Significant Change.
“History may repeat itself”
A study of the process of development of the history and civilizations has an important point to make: any future has its seeds in the past. In Iran, as one of the cradles of the World Civilization, we observe how our great ancestors have been able to sphinx-like arise from their ashes and liberate themselves and their home-land from the tyranny of the alien elements and their lackeys.
In this ebb and flow of history, Azarbaijan has been the forerunner of numerous changes.
1) Medes, King Diyako (709 BC – 656 BC). Medes tribe moved into the western plateau of Iran in the first millennium BC. They constituted the pillars of the first Aryan dynasties in Iran in 708 BC. In the dawn of the Sixth century BC, when Assyrians were defeated and the East Lydia conquered, the Medes dynasty grew to a grand kingdom in Asia.
The Medes Kingdom ruled the largest part of the Western Asia during the reign of Cyaxares and unified the whole Iran under a single banner for the first time as witnessed by the maps of Medes Era. Cyaxares was the founder of the first Iranian power. The founding of the Medes State with its capital in Ecbatana, Hagmatana, or Hamadan as the first state based on unification of diverse Iranian tribes sharing common cultural links deserves to be called as the most significant event in the Country’s history.
The Assyrians ruled Asia for about 500 years and the first people to free themselves from their yoke were the Medes who bravely fought for liberty and broke away from their yoke.
2) Atropatene. When Alexander invaded Iran, all the territory except where Atropatene ruled as the governor was occupied. Alexander had to appoint
Atropatene himself as the governor of the region which was later called after his name, Atropategan, later Azarbaijan.
3) Babak Khorram-Din. Babak the leader of a the Iranian National Patriotic rebellion against the Abbasid Caliphate for 23 years, with his army of the “Red Banners” and “the Believers of the “Joyful Religion” –Khorramdinan- shattered the apparent solidity of the Arab Caliphate and sacrificed his life for the independence of his homeland. His legend reigned during the course of history and inspired many freedom fighters.
4) Safavid Dynasty. After the Arab occupation of Iran, rule of the country by Ottomans and Uzbeks, and the subsequent plundering of the country and enslavement of its people, once again the New Iran would rise under the leadership of “King Ismail Safavi” to drive out the heritage of occupation and unify the country and the nation integrating the separated territories, and establishing a powerful national government. This establishment cracked the body of Islam into two entities the former dominated by Arab tradition and the latter called Shiism based on the Culture of Kingdom {Farhang-e Khosravani} and the Shahnameh.
5) Iranian Constitutional Movement. When in month of Tir of 1287 (1907) the Newly established Iranian House of Parliament [Majlis] was bombarded on the orders of Mohammad-Ali Shah, and the Constitutionalists were nationally suppressed so much so that many intellectuals despaired, suddenly leaders “Sattar Khan and Bagher Khan” emerged from Amirkhiz District of Tabriz as sphinxes from the ashes of the revolution and revived the ailing movement of Modernity and the Rule of law with the collaboration of Gillanis and Bakhtiaris.
6) The Revolt of 57 -1979. Ayatollah Khomeini and the Moscow oriented Tudeh party had not spared any effort in disrupting the social order since 1963. However, in 1356 {1978} a group were killed in Qom revolts and sympathies were expressed in a few other places. But many scholars believe the events took a turning when Tabriz mourned the 40th day ceremony of the Qom victims.
7) Year 2010 the history may repeat itself. The Azarbaijan Movement for Democracy and Integrity of Iran, having learned lessons from the experience of its forefathers, having incorporated the glorious culture of their eternal country Iran, and relying on its Iran-Embracing Constitution is determined to mobilize the efforts of all great Iranian nation specially the people of Azarbaijan to engage its powerful political, economic and social muscles against the rotten, anti-Iranian and anti-human regime of the “Clergy Rule” and once again to join the ever-flourishing forces of all Iranian People to bring down the shaken pillars of the existing regime. This would once again show that the territorial Integrity and national unity go hand in hand with Liberty and Democracy for the whole country. The Movement relies on the fact that nothing but the national will can from the national destiny.
The Political Bureau of the Azarbaijan Movement intends to enter into discussions with you and your organisation with the purpose of setting in motion the determining powers of Azarbaijanis inside and outside the country. We would wish to meet with you in the near future if you express your interest.
